FUR ISN’T
FAIR!
Further protest in Launceston at cruel fur trade
Following the successful protest
by members of Against Animal Cruelty Tasmania two weeks ago outside the
Silver Fox Boutique in Launceston, there will be a further protest against
the cruel use of animals for their fur outside this shop on Tuesday 30th
May from 12 noon until 1.00p.m.
“The fur trade is renowned
for the cruel way the animals are raised or trapped and slaughtered.
The worst offender is the huge Chinese fur trade. We know that the fur
in this shop comes from China, as one of our members has checked the
labels of the clothing which clearly state that they are made in China”
The owner of the Silver Fox
has stated that these animals are farmed in regulated fur ranches in China,
however there are no animal welfare standards in China, the fur trade
is NOT regulated, nor is there any truth in labelling, meaning that any
kind of fur can be used, even that of dogs and cats, for use in fur coats
and fur trim.” said spokesperson Elizabeth Hardy.
International undercover investigations
into fur production in China have documented appalling cruelty to animals,
including cats and dogs.
“No animal should have
to suffer being raised in unnatural conditions and slaughtered so cruelly
just to appease the vanity of rich and spoilt women, who feel that they
look beautiful in dead animals skin. In fact the only thing that looks
beautiful in an animals skin is the animal itself.”
AACT will continue to stage
protests outside this shop until such time as the owner at stops the sale
of fur coats and other fur products.
