21 February, 2010 GETTING 'OUT THERE' TO SPREAD THE WORD: BAN
DUCK SHOOTING “For too long now we have had a government that has a 'don't care' attitude to non-human animals.” announced Chris Simcox, Native Waterbird Campaign Coordinator for AACT. “With an election looming it's time for a government that cares for the animals as well as the people. Wildlife in Tasmania, in particular, has long been abused, exploited, and vilified, and this has to change.” AACT will travel around Hobart carrying it's message high and low, far and wide for the need to ban duck shooting. The message will be carried on banners, and written on pavements at various locations around town. “Another duck season is planned by our esteemed Minister Mr. Llewellyn.” declared Mr Simcox, “Is this man serious about keeping his seat while allowing such a cruel and unpopular activity to persist? Public opinion says duck shooting in Australia should go the way of whaling. Our politicians should stand united with the people who no longer tolerate the mass scale destruction of native species. It's time for a peaceful new world.” During the day on Monday 22nd February, AACTivists will carry the message to “Ban Duck Shooting” to convince the public and politicians alike that an end is near.
