RACING INDUSTRY’S ANIMAL ABUSE EXPOSED

A TWO YEAR UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION REVEALS THE ROUTINE BRUTAL CRUELTY INFLICTED ON RACE HORSES

There is no retirement village for nearly all ex-racehorses, just a trip to the knackery or slaughterhouse.

Animal Liberation groups nationwide are set to launch a new campaign “horseracingkills.org” which exposes the grim reality of this exploitive and cruel industry.

When: Friday 3rd November, 11.00am
Where: 394 Russell St. Melbourne

Campaign Manager, Elio Celotto says “The truth is that for nearly all ex-racehorses, they will be killed for pet food or sent to Peterborough, South Australia, which is a gruelling 10-14 hour trip, they will then be killed and exported to Japan for human consumption.

Only around 30% of the approx. 18,000 racehorses bred for racing each year will ever race. For the ones who don’t make it, nearly all will be discarded and killed for meat.

Even during racing, most racehorses are confined to a stable for up to 22 hours per day.
90% suffer from painful stomach ulcers, 90% suffer from bleeding of the lungs (Pulmonary bleeding), most horses will race for less than 3 years and are then discarded like rubbish, sold for just a few hundred dollars” states Celotto.
