In addition to these campaigns, AACT supports national campaigns such as the 'Save Babe' campaign to end intensive pig farming.

Animal Welfare Act

AACT made a submission to the review of The Tasmanian Animal Welfare Act. AACT's 35 page submission to the review is available online in PDF format for downloading.

AACT's concerns are many and include: the conditions in which factory farmed animals are kept; the exemption of hunting and fishing from the Act; the definition of an animal which currently excludes crustaceans and cephalopods (such as octopus); and tougher penalities for those committing acts of cruelty. See the submission for more information.
